Rock Rapids Recap for Wasmund Racing
Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, hosted yet another 410 Outlaw Sprint show this past Friday and it was a night in which the Wasmund Team had everything working great. The entire crew worked hard to put together a great race car and after figuring out some fueling and handling issues with the car, the team succeeded and put the Keizer Wheels XXX Chassis inside the top five with a four place finish.
Starting out the night in the heat race, Matt grabbed third after lining up on the outside of the second row, and stayed ahead of feature winner Austin McCarl throughout the 8 laps on the wide 3/8ths mile speedway.
Wasmund started 6th for the start of the 25 lap main event, and fell back to 9th after a friendly bump out of the rubber by a fellow racer. Matt quickly put short work to the set-back and drove the Keizer Wheels XXX Chassis up to fourth, nailing down his third top five finish of the year.
“We just had everything right tonight,” explains the Jackson native. “We have been making some changes with our entire program these last few nights of racing and we have now got a great baseline for the motor and the car. The XXX Chassis worked fantastic all night long and we’re really looking forward to our next show!”
Next up for the Wasmund Team will be a Sunday night event at Huset’s Speedway in which Matt finished up last year at the “Home of the Professionals” with two very solid top ten finishes.
